WELCOME

Welcome to issue 10 of GSM-R Online, bringing you the latest news on the national rollout of GSM-R cab radios on the UK’s rail network.

In this first issue of 2012 we’re looking at how passenger fleets, freight and Yellow Plant operators are gearing up for GSM-R as the end-of-year deadline for South of the Wash delivery draws nearer. You can read an update on operator training across the network which highlights the success of multi-operator courses, and find out how fitments are progressing, including operators that are just starting this process. Now ready for rollout, Siemens Version 2 software is also featured in this bulletin, together with recent management team changes, and the launch of Siemens’ new ‘pay as you go’ maintenance contract for GSM-R equipment.
